1960 Block Island Sail 38
Scrimshaw was built in 1947 but launched in 1960. She is a classic and the only one of her kind; built specifically for a film producer. She is built of Port Orford cedar plank with oak frames, the keel is Douglas fir. The masts are black Canadian spruce tree heart. The boom is Douglas fir.
Scrimshaw won the San Diego Schooner Cup race in 2011 by four seconds and also in 2014. Last year Scrimshaw was out of first place by 2 min and 20 seconds.
Scrimshaw has new sails and a full cover and a 9 1/2 ft hard bottom Avon inflatable with a 15 hp four stroke Yamaha.
This boat has been regularly used, well constructed, and exceptionally maintained by a professional for 42 years.
